Bead Street October Classes

I have certainly missed everyone!  Thank you so much for all the kind emails and telephone calls checking in with us.

Lots to tell you.  New inventory from the Czech Republic, back orders from the Bead and Button Show have arrived,  2 U.S.  buying trips, 3 European buying trips and  lots and lots of new ideas and inventory to tell you about.  We've had lots of new classes and  Sue, Irene, Sandy and Beth were just wonderful in keeping everything organized and running smoothly. Also a big thank you to Amanda and Lisa for writing instructions and diagramming some of our new patterns.   Thanks so much - I so appreciate all of you.

The new fall and winter class schedule is coming soon.  For now, this is what's currently scheduled.

Saturday, October 11th, 1:00 PM a new beaded bead class using Czech two hole Tiles.

Thursday, October 16th, 2:00 PM, Just Rollin' Along

Friday, October 17th, 2:00 PM,  Parisian Lace

Saturday, October 18th, 1:00 PM, by special request, Beth is teaching a new metals class - Copper Rings Bracelet.  You will be texturing, dapping, oxidizing and creating metal links in this fun class.

Now that gardens are put to bed, the weather is cooling off, and leaves are falling, its a great time of the year to plan beading projects for, I don't know, maybe giving away as holiday gifts?  And speaking of falling leaves, - SALE starting this Saturday - all leaves - buy one strand, get one free. Somehow we have to make room for all the new things already here and the rest on the way.

Hope everyone has a great weekend - and I hope to see you soon!

Bead Street Sale

Bead Street is moving.   A major renovation is currently scheduled and we were told we needed to move out while this is being done.  Because of this and an ongoing "lack of space to do more classes problem" -  we have decided to not move back into this location. We will be closing Saturday evening the 15th and relocating to a bigger space.

Our last class will be Penny's Netted Wire Cabachon on Saturday and we still have a couple of seats still available if you are interested.

This is the one Penny is teaching
and makes a great pendant for a necklace
or centerpiece for a bracelet

Another sample created by Penny

Classes will resume sometime towards the end of October.  They will be posted here, so please keep in touch.  Becoming a Follower is an easy way to do that.

Since we do not want you to run out of supplies - we are having a great sale this week, which will end on Saturday.

30% off ALL Czech glass strands, ALL seed beads, gemstones, semi-precious, freshwater pearls, sequins, enamel drops, Karen Nan pendants, C-lon macrame cord and hemp,  watches, and  Vintage lucite.

20% off all books

10% off all Fireline, Stretch Magic, Nymo and C-lon stringing cord, Chinese knotting cord, waxed linen spools, Artistic Wire, ParaWire and Craft wire, fiber cards and ribbons, Kumihimo, soldering materials, Tim Holtz supplies, beading magazines, and tools.

The new Beadwork magazine just arrived which has many Tila - CzechMate  projects included.  Both the magazine and the beads are on sale, so if you wanted to try some of these - now is a good time.

We have some metal stamping sets and metal hammers that would make a great gift for someone just starting with metalworking or wireworking. Some Hemp, a Macrame book and a package of beads would make a great Christmas gift for a teen.  We have one Glass Beadmaking kit left as well.

And of course, if you know of projects you will be doing for the holidays - I encourage you to take advantage of this sale and stock up now.  More information on the move coming later.

Czech Glass Lentil Beads

Bead Street just got a new shipment of the 6mm Czech glass lentil beads. Some new colors that were not previously available and some restock.   Some colors are in limited supply and may not even be made again.  Since we had plans to teach two classes in September using these beads, we have decided to have a Labor Day Sale on them.  For the weekend (and thru next week), take 30% off any lentil bead purchase.

The September class schedule will be posted next week but here are some photos of things to come.

Lentil Bracelet Class, $10 but you get a $10 store credit
to purchase your beads.
You can make it thicker or thinner - whichever way you like your bracelets.
This is a three hour class.
However, once you have made one, you'll find it will take "about an hour" (sounds like an eyeglass commercial doesn't it).
So, these are great projects to make for friends.

Another new class is this beaded bead which is
also made with lentil beads.  The original uses two needles
but we have redesigned it to make it easier.

This necklace incorporates a few of those lentil beaded beads.  Pretty nice!

More September classes include Penny's Scrollwork, her Netted Wire Cabochon, and Nancy's Freeform Peyote.  We'll have more information on other projects and hopefully have photos next week as well.  In the meantime, if you are in town this weekend, come in and see the new beads and enjoy a discount.   Stay safe and have a great Labor Day.

Super Duo Beaded Bead

Another beaded bead class taught at Bead Street using the new Czech Super Duos and Twin beads.  This is the second beaded bead using these new 2-hole beads.  This was originally done using two needles and we modified it so you only need to use one needle.

Beautiful colors.
Can't wait to see the finished project using these.

This turned out stunning.
Notice the 'filler' beads - looks like those angel wing beads you only see around the holidays. Nice!

Beaded beads combined with a herringbone
 tube learned in another class.

These beaded beads are combined with crystal
and sterling silver metal beads

These were all finished during the class.
Great job everyone - and great color combinations.

This bead is a bit challenging and
you can see Virginia is thrilled she finally got it.

More classes and more free tutorials coming soon using both the SuperDuos and/or the Twin beads.   Most projects can be done using either bead. However, these beaded bead projects work up much better using the SuperDuos. Stay tuned for more.

Pillow Bead Bracelet

As promised, here are some photos of beads that students made in Penny Dixon's Pillow Bead Bracelet class.  Some gals have made the beads but haven't finished their bracelets as of yet.  But here you get a chance to see the colors they are using.   Deb and Sue have finished at least one bracelet each.  More photos to follow.

Gee, wonder if this one belongs to Janet?
Bead Street Nos. S11605E for TQ, P11211E for the bronze
and a brick red seedbead size 11.

Joy selected beautiful colors on this one as well.
 Bead Street Nos. S11754E, S11916E, and P11208E.

I think this one belongs to Lucy.
She was matching a new outfit so these may become
earrings instead of a bracelet.

This is Deb's finished bracelet.  Beautiful colors and I think she's pretty happy with it since I see her wearing it a lot..

This one beaded by Sue and she used some
of the same colors selected by Irene.
I think Sue has another that she started in the class -
would love to see that one as well.
Pretty stunning huh?
All in all, I think everyone pretty happy with their projects.

We really appreciate that Penny drives from Twin Falls
to teach at Bead Street in Boise.
We'll have to schedule as many classes as we can
 before winter weather.

Bead Street Class Schedule

We have some new classes for August and the schedule  is posted under the Classes caption in above header.  Because they are new, here are some photos.  A few more classes will be scheduled in the next week or so.

Penny's Puffy Bead class, scheduled for Saturday, August 4th, has been full for awhile.  We may be able to convince her to do a second class if there is enough interest.

Another color sample. Beautiful bracelet

Tila Lace Bracelet, Friday night, August 10th

Netted Wire with SuperDuos, Saturday, August 18th.  We had originally scheduled a Netted Cabochon, however, had a number of requests for something smaller.

Beaded Beads with new two-hole SuperDuos (aka Twins).  Larger one scheduled for Friday night, August 3rd and smaller bead scheduled for Friday night, August 17th

SuperDuo (aka Twin) Beaded Bead

The new Czech 2-hole SuperDuos (aka Twin) beads have arrived in great colors.  Some even match the CzechMate Tile beads.  Here is the first beaded bead class using these beads that was held at Bead Street.

Beautiful colors the gals selected

Our instructors found time to do this as well.
Czech SuperDuos, 4mm Czech fire polish and 11/0 Japanese seedbeads.
Even though they are hollow, the beads hold their shape so well -
no need for a larger bead inside.

More great colors
The same color of SuperDuos - but different colors of 11/0 seedbeads.

Peanut Bead Pattern

Joy is an experienced teacher  - but only with 4 year-old children.  She will be teaching a beaded bead designed by  Kassie Inman  from the Beading Butterfly in the next few months.  So we had a trial run Friday night.  These are made with the new 'peanut' beads and everyone had a great time - and they each finished a couple of beads.  Doesn't Joy look professional.

Here are the finished beads.  Pretty cute huh.
Irene wanted her Popcorn peanut bead to look just like the name - so she did hers in white.

Here is what they look like in a finished bracelet with a group of lampwork beads.

This photo I have to explain.  Joy won the 'most entertaining student' award - but only because Janet conceded the race.  Since Joy was ecstatic - she kissed Janet.  There were funnier moments - but we were all laughing so hard - I couldn't hold the camera steady enough to take a photo - so this is the only one that isn't blurry.  Congratulations Joy!  And thanks for a job well done - she did a wonderful job teaching this rowdy bunch.

She has a lot of great tutorials and patterns for sale as well.

Beaded Bead Class

Tonight we did a repeat of a free class on making beaded beads. I taught this class a dozen times at the beginning of the year but there were a few people that missed out. Forgot my camera tonight so have to include photos of prior class projects so you get the idea of what these are.
