Preciosa Chilli Beads and Wine

After taking a break from beading because of the holidays, it was great to get back with friends to take a class.  And with new beads - new Preciosa two-hole Chilli beads - and a new pattern and some wine and cookies....   Fabulous, fabulous day.  Below are some of the things we made.

Janet's two-toned purple version.  Beautiful.
The p
attern called for Thorn beads,
we used two-hole and regular daggers instead
Here is a closeup of above.   Janet really liked this pattern
and you can see more color versions on her Blog

Sandy's second bracelet.
She really liked this pattern and made two.
She used some of my favorite colors,
so I'll have to make this version as well.
My blue luster version with a black diamond AB dagger.
You would think with a bead store, I'd have
everything I need - but forgot almost everything.
So thanks to all for lending me
needle and thread and even seed beads.
Sue's very dramatic Metallic Gold Chilli's
and Garnet daggers
.   Also beautiful.
This is Sandy's first color version.
She was unsure about colors since she hadn't done this
pattern and hadn't seen it done before.
She did a wonderful job coordinating the daggers
with the Jet half coat Copper.
 Turned out great.
Judy leans towards Southwest gemstone colors
in selecting beads and this turned out very
dramatic as well.  Interesting that they all take on a
different vibe - even when using the same pattern.
Sharon had fun with her colorful bead choices as well.
Again, totally different feel -
I'm always so amazed when that happens
 Beautiful work
This pattern, designed by Helena Chmelikova is available free with a Chilli bead purchase available on our website - beadstreetonline.com (or click on the link at the top of this page).  See other great samples under the tab New Chilli beads.  So glad the girls talked me into ordering them.  Lots of fun and we can see lots and lots of potential.

A big, big thank you to  Sandy for teaching  and to Judy for hosting our class and for providing the wine and delicious soup and other goodies.  Like I said, fabulous day!

Bead Street Opening Date

For those of you who read this blog on a regular basis and are just dying to get your hands on some seed beads, or see some of the new beads, or even just touch the samples of  Bead Street's great classes coming soon, Saturday, August 24th is the day.

Many people have been working night and day (literally) to get this accomplished - we are not there yet and the Grand Re-opening will be held later.  But we do have the Czech glass wall up, the Pearl and Semi-Precious wall is organized (mostly) and all of our seed beads are out.  You can see 11/0's, 8/0's, 6/0's, and 15/0's in the seed beads. There are cubes in 1.5mm, 1.8mm, 3mm and 4mm sizes.   Peanuts, Twins, Tilas, and of course the Czechmate Two-hole Lentils, Tiles, Daggers, Super Duos, and Bricks  will be available as well as the regular Lentils, and Drops, and Bugles.  The Hex beads in size 11, 8 and 15's are tubed and available and even some Triangle seed beads (I think size 11's).

Gosh.  This seems like a lot and we still have so many other boxes to  price and organize (including the new Rullas, Rizos,  8mm Rose Petals and new colors of Bricks and Two-hole Lentils). Okay, now I am really, really tired just reading this.

Here are photos of some of the class samples you can see.  I am still waiting for project samples from some of our instructors before I can post the entire schedule but from what I've heard and seen so far - it's going to be so much fun.

New pattern using the new Czechmate Two-hole lentils and Czechmate Tiles

This beautiful wire bracelet created by Beth.
She is one of our new instructors and will be teaching
something very similar.

Wire wrap samples and Metal Etching projects.

Our original design - Parisian Lace, using the
Czechmate Two-hole Bricks and  Tiles.

Another wire project

And all of the Czechmate Super Duo projects that you have seen on this blog over the last year.

Our new building is located at 5509 Glenwood, just north of Shorty's - not quite across from the Hawks Stadium.  Open this Saturday, August 24th from 11:30 to 5:00, and then closed until Wednesday, August 28th.  We will be open  4 days a week (Wednesday thru Saturday)  until we get everything arranged and return from a couple of buying trips.

Hope to see you soon.  And, if you have been beading - would love to see your projects as well.

Bead Street News

It's been ages since I last posted.  Lots of things have happened, lots of things to tell you.  There is news of the Bead and Button show held in Milwaukee, information about  the Paris Flea Market and the beads I bought in this beautiful city, and photos of my trip to London.  I was hoping the royal baby would be born while I was there, but no such luck.  He did, however, arrive on MY birthday.  I think pretty cool.  But I'm sure all of you are far more interested in what's happening with Bead Street.

In the next few weeks we will be moving into a 4,000 square foot, stand-alone building on Glenwood, across from the Hawks Stadium.  This space is huge and beautiful.  The front 3,000 will be the retail store including 3 classrooms, a kitchen, both men's and women's restrooms, a children's reading area and even a children's TV room.  The other 1,000 square feet will be offices housing web development, Internet sales, marketing and new product development.

This space will allow us to have multiple classes going at the same time, additional space for all the new beads coming from the Czech Republic - including the entire Czechmate two-hole range of beads and plenty of space to design, blog, and really set the beading trends for all of you who are interested.   Exciting things coming.

View from the front entry before construction

We are currently knocking down walls, building new walls, installing carpeting, painting, purchasing new fixtures and installing slat wall.  Hopefully the space will be ready soon and we can open sometime mid-August.  A big, big, thank you for your emails, offers to help, and your patience.  We promise it will be worth the wait.

Next week I will post photos of all the new classes that will be scheduled from the end of August thru the end of December. Hopefully this will help you plan your fall schedule if you are interested in any of these. Each month there will be FREE beginning classes, as well as other intermediate and advanced classes taught by the best instructors ever.  Stay tuned.

Bead Street News

First I want to extend congratulations to Nicole for getting her Petal Power bracelet published in the current issue of Bead and Button magazine (page 60).  Some of you may remember testing this pattern way last winter.  Here is another color version than what is shown in the magazine.

Here you can see her Czech glass button
 she used as a closure.

Beautiful work, Nicole.  Congratulations!
As you may have noticed, we did not get the new store opened by our planned date in December.  Lease negotiations with the owner fell through and because of the Holidays and illness, thought we would wait until after January 1st to see what other locations might become available.

We are currently looking at another space a little farther down Chinden.  Unfortunately, this may not happen until March-April.  Tucson is coming right up, I have jury duty in February and  I have some medical issues  I need to take care of in March.  We also have a buying trip scheduled to the warehouse in the Czech Republic.  I was hoping everything would be decided, remodeling completed and everything moved in before all of this.

A big, big thank you to all of you who have called, sent emails and are patiently waiting to get their bead fix.  We have most all of the inventory organized enough that I can get seed beads to you if you know the stock number.  If you have not found what you need elsewhere, send me an email and let me know.

Classes will continue - more information on this later.  Hope everyone is enjoying all the snow and staying well.
